Capas students create biodegradable plates from langka seeds

Senior High School students from Asian Pacific Christian School, Inc. (APCSI) in Capas, Tarlac have turned jackfruit (langka) seeds into eco-friendly, biodegradable plates, earning them international recognition.
According to the Capas Information Office, their research was recently published in the International Journal for Research in Applied Science & Engineering Technology (IJRASET). The study shows that the plates are durable and decompose naturally in just three weeks — a promising solution to plastic waste.
The project was developed by Emman Joshua Matias, Jenny Lugtu, John Gabriel Martin, Clark Ken Reyes, Jens Nickel Soliman, Ahriela Tabago, and Khurt David Tolentino.
They were mentored by Ms. Vi Briza Guarin (Research Adviser), Ms. Heidi Gail Basco (Statistician), and Ms. Kate Basco (Research Teacher). The Local Government of Capas congratulates the team for their ingenuity and contribution to sustainable innovation. #
