San Simon Mayor at 5 Konsehal suspendido

Suspendido ng dalawang buwan sina San Simon, Pampanga Mayor JP Punsalan at limang konsehal dahil sa umano’y ma-anomalyang pagbili ng lupa malapit sa munisipyo.

Kabilang sa mga konsehal na nasuspendi sina Dading Santos, Mark Macapagal, Irene Dagdag, Randell Bondoc at Archiebald Basilio.

Naglabas naman ng opisyal na pahayag ang abugado ni Mayor Punsalan na si Atty. Adenn Sigua hinggil sa isyu:

“We would like to clarify that Mayor Punsalan would only undergo preventive suspension while the administrative case is pending and preventive suspension is not a penalty. The good mayor would respect the legal processes of the investigation. We have likewise filed our answer to the complaint and we are reserving our right to file our supplemental answer.”

Ang kautusan ay ibinaba ng Office of the Governor batay sa Resolution #5529 ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan nitong November 3, 2020. Ang Kautusan ay pinirmahan ni Gov. Dennis Pineda, Nobyember 6, 2020.

Ayon sa Section 46 ng Local Government Code, uupo bilang acting mayor si Vice Mayor Leonora Wong habang nasa suspension period ang alkalde.
