Tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang pamamahagi ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ng medical and burial assistance kahit sa panahon ng 10-day “ayuda ban” na itinakda ng Commission on Elections mula May 2 hanggang May 12.
Ayon kay DSWD spokesperson Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, bagamat suspendido ang ilang programa ng kagawaran, gaya ng Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) at Ayuda sa Kapos Ang Kita Program (AKAP), binigyan ng exemption ng Commission on Elections (COMELEC) ang pamamahagi ng medical o burial assistance.
“This is a big thing for us because these (funeral and medical aid) should be provided to the people, with or without elections,” ani Dumlao.
“The DSWD is firm on ensuring that our safeguards are fully-implemented to protect all of our programs and services from any form of political partisanship,” pahayag ni Dumlao. #
