Manila activists join global mobilization: ‘U.S. out of Venezuela’ and ‘No war for oil’
MANILA, Philippines — Activist groups in Manila held a protest action and solidarity program on Saturday, January 17, as part of the Global Day of Action in Solidarity with Venezuela by World Beyond War.

The mobilization was led by Kilusan para sa Pambansang Demokrasya (KPD) and Pagkakaisa ng Kababaihan para sa Kalayaan (KAISA KA). Participants gathered at the National Library along Kalaw Street in the morning before marching toward the U.S. Embassy along Roxas Boulevard.
During the protest, activists condemned what they described as the United States’ January 3 armed attack on Venezuela and the alleged abduction of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. Protesters said the incident constituted a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.
Demonstrators also criticized the U.S. military operation in Venezuela, dubbed “Operation Absolute Resolve,” and raised concerns over what they claimed were Washington’s interests in Venezuela’s oil reserves. They further pointed to what they called a double standard in the U.S. position on international law, particularly in relation to the West Philippine Sea.
Carrying banners bearing the slogans “U.S. Out of Venezuela” and “No War for Oil,” the groups called for an end to war, foreign intervention, sanctions, and regime change efforts in Venezuela. Leaders of the participating organizations addressed the crowd, while photo opportunities and media interviews were held during the action.
