The LAKESHORE PARK: A park in the heart of Pampanga that promotes quality of life for the people

Written By: Caloi Barrera

The Lakeshore in Mexico, Pampanga, since its conception more than twenty-two years ago, has been doing its share in giving its community a picturesque setting while consciously flourishing the environment.  It prides itself of considerably enriching the Filipino lifestyle by pioneering the “lake community” in the country.  It has a sustainable development plan which in its own small way contributes solutions on energy conservation.

The property has shuttle services for its employees in their transportation within and around the estate.  Its proximity to the church inside the estate, convenience stores, fastfoods and restaurants at The Lakeshore Toll Service Facility which is walkable and pedestrian friendly with tree-line sidewalks and promenades, and even the malls in San Fernando and Angeles City, and the Clark International Airport makes the residents drive fewer miles everyday which translates to fewer tons of gas emission.

Visually, it cannot be denied that The Lakeshore epitomizes “nature” at its finest.  The abundance of lush brushwoods coupled with the immense presence of the serene lake with the majestic Mount Arayat as its backdrop is a validation of the estate in union with ecology.  The 12 hectare man-made lake nestled at the heart of the estate harvests rainwater for its sustenance.  Its fauna and flora are nurtured naturally and organically.  The estate’s road network is meticulously designed with elaborate tree-lined/shaded pathways for its jogging and biking trails.  Transplanting of trees and other vegetation has been a regular practice at The Lakeshore, hence the profusion of instant mature trees, foliage and greens.  These trees not only protect the environment but also play a major role in upholding the ecosystem of the area and obliquely function as filter in blocking the sun’s harmful rays.  The per capita carbon dioxide (gas) emission at The Lakeshore is comparably lower than in any other real estate development in this part of the country.  This may also be attributed to the vastness of the estate.  It allotted a major portion of its development to open spaces for its parks, gardens and recreational areas which serves as the “lung” of the estate and making the demography less dense and less congested which is tantamount to less pollution.

Every year, as early as September, The Lakeshore park transforms into an astonishing Christmas Village for everyone to enjoy.  Thousands of people from the community and even from other towns and provinces flock at The Lakeshore Christmas Park to experience its beauty, exciting rides and activities, making it the holiday season’s go-to place in this part of the region.  Consequently, our Park helps boosting the economy of the community and municipality.

This year, it even added another first by featuring The Lakeshore Winter Wonderland.  Using the latest in Hollywood production technology, 100% eco-friendly and bio-degradable artificial snow blankets the North Pier section of The Lighthouse Park.  The artificial snow has been used in movies such as; Harry Potter, Narnia, Star Wars and Hallmark Christmas movies to name a few.  The snow is only the first of the planned winter wonderland attractions that will be a yearly feature at The Lakeshore Christmas Park.  And during Valentines, the it then transforms into a Rose Park with a sea of lighted roses. The Lakeshore is a testimonial that an economical, environmentally-friendly sustainable development with such magnitude and splendor is still possible where the relationship between architecture and ecology can be in absolute symbiosis.
