Japan, ILO, and DICT launch Digital Transformation Center in Central Luzon

On the 26th of April 2024, the Government of Japan, the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) launched a new Digital Transformation Center (DTC) in Mabalacat City, Pampanga. This center is part of the Japan-ILO project “Bringing Back Jobs Safely under the COVID-19 Crisis in the PH: Rebooting Small and Informal Businesses” launched in 2021 to foster economic recovery and resilience in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The DTC aims to provide digital resources and training programs to support job creation and business digitalization in the Central Luzon region, with a particular focus on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). During the inauguration ceremony, First Secretary KANNO Chihiro of the Embassy of Japan emphasized the importance of digitalization in business and reiterated Japan’s commitment to supporting the Philippines.

The event was attended by key officials and representatives from various organizations, highlighting the collaborative effort to promote digital transformation and economic growth. Japan and ILO’s continued partnership with the Philippines underscores their shared commitment to improving the lives of Filipino citizens.
