2026 Philippine Drift Series Officially Launches, Sets Stage for New Era in Local Motorsport
The Philippine Drift Series (PDS)—the country’s newest national championship for drifting—has officially been launched, signaling a bold step forward in elevating the sport’s professional scene across the Philippines.
Organized by R102 Productions, the series aims to spotlight top-tier talent while creating a structured pathway for grassroots drifters to transition into the professional ranks. CEO and President Toni Arakaki expressed strong optimism about the initiative.
“My team and I are very excited to launch the Philippine Drift Series (PDS). We aim to create a structured format in the professional scene of drifting, as well as increase the number of future professional drivers in the country,” Arakaki said.
International-Caliber Judging Panel
In its bid to establish credibility and prestige, PDS has assembled a distinguished panel of international judges. Among them is Vernon Zwaneveld, a veteran Dutch drifter and stunt driver who has judged over 50 international competitions, including the renowned Drift Masters European Championship.
Joining him is Davide Dorigo, also known as “Drift Evil (Drevil),” an active competitor with experience in Formula Drift Asia, D1 Grand Prix Thailand, and D1 Grand Prix Japan.
Completing the panel is Mervyn Nakamura, a seasoned drifter who made his mark during the peak of Formula D Asia in 2010.
Entertainment and Commentary
Enhancing the live experience, PDS has tapped Peter Davis as the tournament’s official broadcaster. Known for his energetic presence and unique crossover background as both a drifter and former professional MMA fighter, Davis is expected to bring an engaging dynamic to the series.
Season Schedule and International Entries
The opening round of the 2026 season is set for March 28 at the R33 Drift Track. Early interest from international competitors has already been confirmed.
“Several pro drivers from China have already confirmed their interest in participating in the tournament. We will have Luca Liu and Leo Li from China, representing Team TNT,” Arakaki revealed.
Subsequent rounds are scheduled for June 20 and October 10. Round 2 will take place at the Tarlac Circuit Hill, while the venue for the final round is expected to be announced in the coming months.
With a structured format, international participation, and a strong lineup of officials, the Philippine Drift Series is poised to redefine competitive drifting in the country and pave the way for the next generation of professional drivers.
