YoungBEAN initiates mangrove planting activity on Easter Sunday
The Young Bataeños for Environmental Advocacy Network (YoungBEAN), together with local fisherfolk groups, led a meaningful mangrove planting activity along the coastlines of Barangay Camachile, Orion, Bataan on Easter Sunday, April 20.
This initiative, held in the spirit of Easter’s message of hope and renewal, is part of YoungBEAN’s ongoing commitment to protecting and restoring Bataan’s coastal ecosystems. This program united youth volunteers from various schools and organizations, along with local community members.

In collaboration with the Municipal Agriculture Office of Orion, the Sangguniang Barangay of Camachile, and several advocacy networks, participants planted over 250 mangrove seedlings and pledged to continue caring for a 1,000-square-meter adopted mangrove area in Orion.
The initiative not only focuses on rehabilitating and expanding mangrove forests, but also supports the livelihoods of local fisherfolk by enhancing coastal protection against erosion and storm surges. With the theme “Restore Our Seas, Restore Our Earth”, the event highlights a broader commitment to climate justice and sustainable community development.

YoungBEAN champions a holistic approach that combines hands-on environmental action with education and strong partnerships, empowering both youth and local stakeholders to be proactive stewards of the environment. Their efforts continue to inspire hope and demonstrate the impact of collective action in addressing ecological challenges.
This Easter Sunday planting was the second in a series of mangrove restoration efforts participated in by PUP SKM (Polytechnic University of the Philippines Sentral na Konseho ng Mag-aaral), the Bagac Pawikan Conservation Center, and the Samahan ng Nagkakaisang Mangingisda ng Camachile. #
