Senate merges proposed laws declaring Pampanga as PH Culinary Capital
The Senate Committee on Tourism approved the merging of three proposed laws declaring Pampanga as the country’s Culinary Capital.
In his Facebook post, Governor Dennis Pineda said these are Senate Bills No. 2797 of Sen. Lito Lapid, No. 2790 of Sen. Imee Marcos, and No. 2806 of Sen. Loren Legarda.
“Pag-uusapan na po ang bill sa plenary hearing next week,” Pineda added.
The province’s top official thanked the lawmakers as well as former Board Member Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab for initiating the cause.
Pineda also conveyed his appreciation to former President and now Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Deputy Speaker and 3rd District Rep. Dong Gonzales, 1st District Rep. Jon Lazatin, Rep. Anna York Bondoc-Sagum of the 4th district for pushing for the said law in the lower chamber; and Romblon Rep. Eleandro Jesus Madrona, Chair of the House Committee on Tourism for his support.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Arts, Culture, and Tourism Office of Pampanga (ACTOP), Center for Kapampangan Studies, Chef Jam Melchor of the Philippine Food Heritage Movement, and the Department of Tourism Region 3.
