SEC, DAR seal partnership to assist ARB groups in Bataan, Zambales
The Securities and Exchange Commission-Tarlac Extension Office (SEC-TEO) and the Department of Agrarian Reform- Bataan and Zambales Provincial Office have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to assist and capacitate the agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) in their SEC registration and in securing all SEC regulatory requirements under the SEC Communication, Advocacy, and Network (SEC-CAN) initiative.
SEC-TEO Director, Atty. Richard R. Laus and DAR Bataan-Zambales Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II, Engr. Emmanuel G. Aguinaldo signed the MOA which was held during the SEC One-stop Shop Caravan in Abucay, Bataan.
“The SEC as the national government agency charged with the supervision over the corporate sector is currently establishing effective linkages, communications and collaborative activities with all stakeholders on investor protection, education and advocacies including those associations being assisted by DAR,” said Laus.
Under this partnership, the SEC-TEO and DAR Bataan-Zambales agreed to collaborate in order to fast-track the SEC registration of the ARBOs and to increase the awareness and understanding of their officers and members on investor education, online filing of SEC annual reports, financial literacy and investment scam prevention.
For his part, PARPO II Aguinaldo expressed his full support for this collaboration to assist the ARBOs in acquiring juridical personality as an organization. He also added that this partnership will capacitate the ARBOs in complying with their SEC annual reports which will help them to avoid penalties and maintain good standing with the Commission.
Last May, a total of 10 newly-organized ARBOs in Bataan were assisted by the two agencies in the processing of their SEC registration and the releasing of their certificates of incorporation through the SEC One-stop Shop Caravan on company registration and investor education.
