Ilang Tulog Na Lang: Ben&Ben roused kabalen Liwanag spirits
The night was the brightest last March 11, 2024, at Systems Plus College Foundation (SPCF) as the fans of Ben&Ben also called Liwanag turned on the lights of their phones swaying with their relatable palpable music.
Ben&Ben is a multi-awarded 9-piece Filipino folk-pop band composed of twin brothers Miguel Benjamin and Paolo Benjamin (Acoustic guitar and vocals), Poch Barretto (Electric guitar) Keifer Cabugao (Violin), Andrew De Pano and Toni Muñoz (Percussion), Pat Lasaten (Keyboards) Agnes Reoma (Bass), and Jam Villanueva (drums).
The band is not foreign to the crowd of our kabalen and they’ve been performing even before.
“Hindi ko makakalimutan ‘yung first time na pumunta kami dito. Everytime kasi ‘yung feeling na it always feels like it’s the first time. ‘Yun ‘yung feeling! Kasi alam mo ‘yung kapag first time, ‘yung parang intense yung energy. Yung parang ang tagal niyong hindi nagkita tapos finally nagkita na kayo.” Miguel Benjamin, one of the twins said.
“Masarap ang pagkain…pero mas masarap pa sa pagkain ang pagwelcome ng mga tao.” Paolo Benjamin added.
Jem Macatuno, Hanami Miyamoto, Carl Timbol, and Erica Ladiza opened the stage with electrifying and pumping performances to excite the audience. They performed famous songs varying from Ariana Grande’s ‘yes and?’ to Ere by Juan Karlos and some of their original songs.
“Langyang Pag-ibig” started the setlist of Ben and Ben followed by “Pagtingin, ” a crowd favorite.
“Ilang Tulog Na Lang,” the song from which the concert title is derived was sung by Ben&Ben’s percussionist, Toni Muñoz which they introduced as the songwriter of the song.
“Sa Susunod Na Habang Buhay,” “Paninindigan Kita,” “Autumn,” “Maybe The Night,” and “Araw-araw” ignite a different vulnerability through the audience. Some may have shed some tears because of each song’s deep and heartwarming lyrics.
Fans requested another song, chanting “Isa Pa” as a cry for an encore song and the ensemble was happy to oblige in performing their last song “Ride Home”.
CLTV36 is proud to be a media partner of SPCF’s Ben&Ben “Ilang Tulog na Lang” concert in which the proceeds will go to scholarship grants and the improvement of school facilities.
