Cinelenean: Celebrating Regional Filmmaking and Kapampangan Culture
What is Cinelenean?
It is a film festival conducted by the Department of Communication of Angeles University Foundation, alongside the AUF Samahan ng Mag-aaral sa Komunikasyon (SAMASKOM). The film festival was originally celebrated annually, however, it will now be a biennual film festival.
The name of the film festival is a portmanteau of Cinema and Angelenean, resulting into Cinelenean. Despite what the name of the film festival suggests however, for this 9th celebration and for the foreseeable future, the Cinelenean Film Festival opens it doors for filmmakers outside the Angelenean community, extending its reach region-wide. Turning it from being simply a showcase of the filmmaking talents of Angeleneans, into a celebration of independent filmmaking throughout the region.
Salé Ning Leguan
The theme for this year’s Cinelenean Film Festival is centered around highlighting Kapampangan culture and ingenuity. It is an homage to the province wherein the film festival originated, Pampanga.
SALÉ NING LEGUAN roughly translates to “nest of beauty” – an encapsulation of what the film festival seeks to present through its films, being that the province of Pampanga, with its culture, language, and people, is a nest of beauty.
In this exciting chapter of the Cinelenean Film Festival, CLTV36 steps up as the official media partner, ensuring that the creative endeavors of our filmmakers receive the audience they deserve. Viewers can look forward to experiencing the rich narratives and artistic expressions of the region, as the films will be aired on CLTV36. This partnership not only amplifies the reach of local talents but also brings the vibrant culture of Pampanga directly into homes across the area.
