₱135M zoo opens in Clark

CLARK FREEPORT— A 40-hectare zoo that features more than 1,500 live animals and 70 animal species recently had its soft-opening in this Freeport.

Constructed in 2019, the Clark Safari and Adventure Park finally opened its doors to the public on December 8, 2021.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was also organized to mark the soft launch of the facility. This was led by Clark Safari owner Romy Sitchon, Clark Development Corporation (CDC) Chairman Edgardo Pamintuan, and CDC President and CEO Manuel R. Gaerlan.

They were joined by CDC Chief-of-Staff Dennis C. Legaspi, CDC Vice President for Administration and Finance Engr. Mariza O. Mandocdoc, CDC Vice President for Business Development Rynah F. Ventura, CDC Assistant Vice President for Investment Promotions Divisions I Thelma C. Ocampo, and CDC Manager for Building and Facilities Permits Division Erwin C. Bognot.

During the event, a live orchestra performance also served as a welcome sight for guests including Aeta youngsters who visited the full 15-hectare Phase 1 area.

Meanwhile, the zoo accommodates up to 2,500 visitors and implements basic health and safety protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to ensure the safety of all visitors and guests.

Sitchon poured in P135 million worth of investment for the development of the zoo. He shared that he is delighted to welcome visitors and tourists to the Freeport’s newest attraction after a series of lockdowns delayed its launch.

Aside from a zoo tour, visitors to Clark Safari will enjoy a variety of activities like animal interactions, picture taking, and animal feeding, all of which are meant to acquaint visitors with various species of animals.

The zoo is open daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, including holidays. People of all ages are allowed to enter Clark Safari and Adventure Park. Entrance fees are affordable with rates starting at Php 399 for kids (four feet below) and Php 499 for adults.

Kids that are three feet below will be free of charge while Senior Citizens and PWDs will have a 20% discount.

More fun activities will also be included upon the completion of the zoo’s Phase 2. These will include the construction of a theme park inside the zoo wherein safari rides, zip lines, and ATV rides will be made available to the public.
